Nutrition

The NSW Government initiative Munch and Move recognises that good nutritional habits develop in early education. Children’s food choices impact their energy levels and overall health, wellbeing, and development.

At kindy we recommend children are given healthy and nutritious snacks that include the 5 healthy lunch box ideas:

  1. Fruit – a piece of fruit
  2. Vegetables – carrot, cucumber, capsicum sticks, corn
  3. Dairy – yoghurt, cheese
  4. Whole Grains – wholemeal bread, crackers
  5. Lean Meat Alternatives – lean ham or chicken

We believe that mealtimes are a perfect time to role model the correct behaviour. Educators’ model healthy eating and drinking habits to children when they sit, eat and drink at mealtimes.

Children have access to water throughout the day and can drink when required. Children bring labelled drink bottles to kindy that are stored in the class water esky and can always be freely accessed.

Birthdays celebrations are part of the centre and a child with a food allergy or cultural requirement will never be excluded. Please note we are an egg and nut free centre.

In line with our sustainability policy and being environmentally responsible the centre encourages nude food (package free) lunch boxes with minimal or no packaging. This creates awareness to the amount of landfill that is generated from food packaging.
